Project Overview

Glam sits on the water’s edge at Ramhan Island, its pool terrace looking out across the channel toward the open gulf. The brief was explicit from the first conversation: glamorous. Not pastiche, not excess for its own sake — but a home that commits to richness in every detail, that takes pleasure seriously as a design value.

The villa spans two levels with a private infinity pool, direct beach access, and panoramic water views from the primary living areas. Every room was designed to hold two qualities simultaneously: opulence and ease. The result is a home that entertains effortlessly and retires quietly.

Design Approach

The palette anchors on dark walnut and Calacatta marble — a combination that generates warmth and gravity without heaviness. Brushed gold fixtures and hardware run throughout as a consistent accent thread: in the kitchen, across the bathrooms, through the light fittings. Velvet and bouclé upholstery give the seating a tactile density that reads as deliberate luxury.

The open-plan dining and living volume is the heart of the villa. A long dining table seats ten beneath a crystal chandelier, its rectangular form echoing the grid of the shelving wall behind it. Styling on the shelves — coral, art, books, ceramics — was curated as a single composition rather than assembled over time. The room photographs like a stage set because it was designed to live like one.

The Dressing Room

The dressing room is the most singular space in the project. Floor-to-ceiling dark cabinetry with illuminated open shelving creates a dramatic contrast against the lighter palette of the rest of the house. A boucle ottoman sits at the centre on a wave-pattern rug; the light is warm and directional, targeted at the rails rather than flooding the ceiling. It is a room that treats storage as ceremony — which is, of course, the whole point.

Waterfront and Exterior

The exterior was developed in close dialogue with the landscape team. The same travertine paving runs from inside the villa through the covered terrace and out to the pool deck without interruption. The pool is positioned to read as a single sheet of water merging with the channel beyond when seen from within the villa — the classic threshold illusion, executed with precision.

Drone photography captures what the interior shots cannot: the position of the villa on the island, its relationship to the water, and the scale of the private beach that wraps around the west corner. The UAE flag flies from the roof — an image that reads, rightly, as arrival.

Craftsmanship

Hardware is brushed gold throughout, custom-finished to a consistency that makes the entire villa feel like a single curated object rather than a series of independent decisions. The chandelier in the dining room — a cascade of clear glass rods in a rectangular frame — was sourced specifically for this project; nothing off-the-shelf would have held its own against the scale of the room.

Lighting layers across all primary spaces: cove ambient at ceiling level, directional accent for art and objects, and practical task lighting concealed inside joinery. At night the villa reads from the water as a warm, lit volume — present without being intrusive.
